Former South African President Nelson Mandela, who is suffering a lung infection, is responding to the treatment.
S. African presidency stated on Tuesday that 94-year-old Mandela, who was diagnosed with a recurrence of lung infection is receiving appropriate treatment and he is responding to the treatment.
Nobel Peace laureate Mandela, who had spent time in a Johannesburg hospital in 2011 with a respiratory condition, was admitted to the Pretoria military hospital on Saturday.
Mandela, a global symbol of resistance to racism and injustice, spent 27 years in apartheid prisons.
