A 7.0 magnitude earthquake shook in Japan's southwest Saturday morning, leading to a 30-centimeter tsunami.
State news agency Kyodo reported the Japan Meteorological Agency as saying the quake had happened at 5.51 a.m. roughly 160 kilometers southwest of Kyushu, the most southerly of the country's four main islands.
It was felt most strongly in Saga and Kagoshima prefectures in Kyushu's west.
Around an hour after the quake, a small tsunami hit Nakanoshima Island -- a minor island in Japan's far south. A tsunami advisory issued for other islands was later lifted.
Kyodo added that the Sendai nuclear power plant in Satsumasendai, Kagoshima was unaffected, and did not report any injuries or deaths.
