LONDON
A huge shopping complex in west London was evacuated Wednesday after reports of an unexploded shell from World War II found at a nearby building site.
The Westfield London was cleared by police after the discovery of the device in the Shepherd’s Bush area.
"Officers from Hammersmith and Fulham are assisting with the evacuation of a number of premises following the discovery of a World War II shell in Shepherd's Bush," the Metropolitan Police said.
Officers found a shell approximately 13.5 inches (34 centimeters) in length and around six inches wide.
Cordons and local road closures were lifted after the ordnance was removed by specialist officers for examination.
