Thousands of Lebanese Sunday carried the body of Lebanese politician Mohamed Chatah to his last resting place, just a few meters away from where the body of former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq Hariri rests.
Chatah was killed in an explosion that targeted his car in Beirut, also a few meters away from where the car of Hariri was bombed a few years ago. The bombing also claimed the lives of five other people, including Chatah's bodyguard.
With tears and angry chants, the Lebanese took the body of the former Lebanese finance minister to his grave following a packed funeral prayer service in central Beirut that has been heavily guarded.
Chatah was on his way to attend an early Friday morning meeting with a group of other politicians from the March 14 alliance, led by ex-premier Saad Hariri's Future bloc.
Several high-profile politicians attended the meeting, including Prime Minister-designate Salam Tammam and former Lebanese prime minister Fouad Seniora.
