Kosovan Prime Minister Hashim Thaci welcomed the framework agreement reached on September 14 between the United States and Russia on the elimination of Syrian chemical weapons.
"Since the beginning, the government of Kosovo has supported the intention to end the use of chemical weapons in Syria, and to bring to justice the perpetrators of the attacks in Ghouta, near Damascus, on August 21 in which more than a thousand innocent civilians were killed by chemical weapons," said the statement from the government.
It also stressed the extreme importance of this agreement being followed with concrete steps and a new United Nations Security Council resolution which should be immediately implemented.
"Now it is important for Syria to meet its obligations and destruct the entire chemical weapons in its possession, without delay and preconditions," it added.
The Government of the Republic of Kosovo called on all parties to cooperate with the international community and to implement the agreement which represents a decisive step towards finding a political solution to end the civil conflict in Syria.
