The militant group Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, commonly known by the initials ISIL, has ordered all girls and women living in northern Iraqi city of Mosul to undergo female genital mutilation, according to the United Nations.
The decree issued early Thursday may affect four milllion girls and women in Iraq, UN resident and humanitarian coordinator in Iraq Jacqueline Badcock said Thursday at the UN Office in Geneva via a video conference from Erbil.
"This is something very new for Iraq, particularly in this area," she said.

1.2 milion Iraqis have been internally displaced since June -- 550,000 of them in Anbar region and 650,000 in northern Iraq, particulary in Mosul -- Badcock said.
"At the moment, 7,000 Turkmens' families have been relocated," she added
