BAGHDAD
Iraqi security forces caught Abdulbaqi al-Saadoun, a senior leader of former President Saddam Hussein’s Baath party, Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadim (in picture) said Saturday.
The Iraqi PM added that “al-Saadoun was caught on the basis of strong intelligence efforts,” without specifying the place or time of his arrest.
Security sources said that al-Saadoun was hiding in Kirkuk and is now being detained in Baghdad.
Al-Saadoun has been wanted since 2005 by the Iraqi government, which had set a large bounty on him.
