ISTANBUL
A member of the Executive Board of the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood, Gaysa Ulabi said on Saturday that the plan of joint UN and Arab League special envoy on Syria, Kofi Annan, failed.
Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA) at the end of a conference titled "Continuing Walk", Ulabi stressed that international steps have only led to Assad's gaining time.
"We accepted the Annan Plan at the beginning with the hope that it would stop the massacre of civilians. However, international steps taken have only led to Assad's gaining time," Ulabi underlined.
"Civilian casualties in Syria continue. The Annan Plan and the UN have been unsuccessful in Syria," Ulabi noted.
"The Syrian people are in great solidarity within themselves. Despite Assad's plans to create enmity between sects and ethnic groups, the Syrian people have united as one. The Syrian people gathered together to bury the Assad regime in history. There is tremendous solidarity within the Syrian people," Ulabi also said.
