A female American citizen has been killed as a result of an unspecified ‘indirect attack’ on Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan, an official U.S. Department of Defense statement has announced.
Bagram Airfield is considered one of the largest U.S. military bases in Afghanistan, located some 37.3 miles (60 kilometers) north of the Afghan capital, Kabul.
According to the Department of Defense statement Tuesday, the deceased Krissie K. Davis, 54, was a civilian working with the department in supporting its Operation Freedom's Sentinel in Afghanistan.
Davis was killed Monday during an indirect fire attack on Bagram Airbase, it said.
NATO also confirmed the incident.
