Korosi to assume office from Abdulla Shahid in September

WASHINGTON
Hungarian diplomat Csaba Korosi was elected Tuesday by the UN as the president of the General Assembly's 77th session.
The 193-member body picked the new leader after Abdulla Shahid, president of the 76th Session, finished his one-year term.
Korosi will assume the post from Shahid in September and will serve until September 2023.
He served as Hungary's envoy to the UN from 2010 - 2014.
Secretary-General Antonio Guterres congratulated Korosi on his win.
"Congratulations to Csaba Korosi of Hungary, who has been elected President of the 77th #UNGA session. My deep appreciation to @abdulla_shahid for his exceptional leadership as @UN_PGA during this 76th session," Guterres wrote on Twitter.
