US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel stated on Wednesday that US Department of Defense (DoD) would carry out a comprehensive security review at its installations around the globe, following a mass shooting incident in capital Washington which left 13 people dead.
Hagel was reported to have ordered a review of physical security and access at all DoD installations worldwide.
Noting that Deputy Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter would conduct the examinations which would also include security procedures of sub-conractor companies, Hagel said an independent panel would be formed which would also prepare its own evaluations over ministry's facilities and security procedures.
Aaron Alexis, a former Navy reservist, had opened fire at the Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington DC on Monday, killing 12 people and injuring 12 others before being shot dead by police.
