A Chinese villager has been found dead after shooting dead four people, including two police officers, and injuring five others in northern Hebei province, police said Tuesday.
The suspect Liu Shuangrui went after his neighbors with a double-barreled shotgun in a shooting that lasted from Monday midnight to early Tuesday morning in Xishibao village of Suning county, state news agency Xinhua cited the provincial public security department as saying.
Liu allegedly suffered from schizophrenia, the Shanghai Daily reported, citing the local Yanzhao Metropolis Daily. According to the report, five people -- two of them police -- were wounded, with three sustaining severe injuries and being transported to Beijing for medical treatment.
The suspect wounded four policemen -- two of whom died in hospital -- as they pursued him, Xinhua reported.
The agency said Liu was found dead at his home by police at around 5 a.m. Tuesday (2200GMT Monday).
The exact cause of his death remains unknown, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
