GAZA CITY
A Palestinian worker was wounded in the north of the Gaza Strip on Sunday by gunfire from the Israeli army.
The 21-year-old worker was taken to hospital after sustaining a leg injury by gunfire from Israeli soldiers, Gaza Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qodra told Anadolu Agency.
He added that the worker was collecting gravel in northern Gaza, near to Erez crossing.
Israel maintains a 300-meter buffer zone inside the Gaza Strip and shoots at Palestinians who enter the area.
Scores of Palestinians work in the border area to collect gravel, which are used in construction.
Israel has been banning the entry of construction materials into Gaza since it had imposed a blockade on the coastal enclave in 2006.
Earlier in the day, Israeli soldiers opened fire on agricultural fields in the border area, scaring away Gaza farmers who were working on their fields in Khan Younis.
The Israeli army has yet to comment on the two incidents.
