PARIS
French President François Hollande's popularity has hit a record low since he ousted Nicolas Sarkozy two years ago, results of a survey showed.
Hollande's newly appointed Prime Minister Manuel Valls is seeing his popularity rise among the French population, according to the Ifop monthly poll published Sunday in the weekly Journal du Dimanche.
Hollande's popularity has dropped five points in April to 18 percent, its lowest level for two years with only two percent of respondents in the poll saying they were "very satisfied" with Hollande as president while 44 percent said they are "mostly dissatisfied" and 38 percent "very dissatisfied."
Valls though, after only two weeks in his current position, is sitting pretty with 58 percent of respondents to the poll saying they were "mostly satisfied" making him the most French popular government leader.
Following the Socialists' poor performance in the municipal elections Valls was appointed prime minister on March 31 in a government reshuffle.
The telephone poll of 1,909 people was conducted April 4 - April 12 on a sample of 1,909.
