PARIS
Staff at French wire agency Agence France Press (AFP) are striking over the cancellation of collective agreements for staff.
Unions called for industrial action on Tuesday over the “social and financial rights” of 1,350 staff, including journalists, based in France. The strike is expected to last to Thursday.
The International Federation of Journalists and the European Federation of Journalists called on the company to revoke the decision to terminate 117 collective and business agreements. The French National Syndicate of Journalists described AFP’s decision as an “unacceptable act of hostility".
