
TRIPOLI (AA) - July 25, 2012 - The Chairman of the National Forces Alliance, Mahmoud Jibril, has said that era of ideologies in Libya and around the world was over.
"Not only in Libya, but also in the whole world, the era of ideologies is over. The ideologies are now outdated and the world is now changing so swiftly. Therefore, it is no longer possible to get stuck in ideefixe shaped up by ideologies," Jibril told Anadolu Agency (AA) correspondent in an exclusive interview on Wednesday in Tripoli.
Jibril stated that it would not be appropriate stance according to the spirit of the century if his party specified itself as liberal, nationalist or marxist.
"Liberality, secularity and pan-Islamism are now concepts of the past. Today, what Libya needs is science and intelligence, and those do not have any ideology. The mathematical rules are the same around the world," Jibril said.
Jibril stated that the election on July 7 proved that Libyans were able to succeed the transition period in the correct way.
Noting that people were aware of the developments in his country, "Libyan people notice that there is no state now, and they comprehended the importance of stability and unity of the nation. They are aware of the necessity for re-building of the state," said Jibril.
Jibril specified the Islamic parties in Libya as "our brothers", adding that the parties were their cooperators while rebuilding the country.
Jibril also welcomed Turkey's stance during public revolution in Libya. Jibril expressed his pleasure with receiving congratulatory messages from Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.
