JERUSALEM
Two Israelis were injured late on Monday when two rockets fell on the southernmost city of Eilat, the Israeli army said.
It added on its Twitter account that two rockets fell in Eilat, while a third fell in an empty area.
The army said the rocket attack caused material damage as well.
Rocket warning sirens were sounded before the rockets fell in the city, according to Israeli media.
This is the first time Eilat is targeted with rockets since Israel has started its military offensive on the Gaza Strip a week ago.
On Monday, one of the rockets directly hit a car in a parking lot, the website of the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported.
At least 187 Palestinians have been killed and more than 1300 others injured in unrelenting Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip since the operation began last Monday.
Gaza-based resistance factions, for their part, have continued to fire rockets at Israeli cities in response to the ongoing Israeli attacks.
No Israeli fatalities have been reported thus far.
