Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi on Thursday discussed with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin the situation in the bombed Gaza Strip, an Egyptian presidential source said.
"The phone conversation also focused on al-Sisi's expected visit to Russia on August 12," the source told Anadolu Agency.
According to the source, the two leaders discussed an Egyptian initiative for ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and a host of regional issues, including developments in Iraq and Libya.
The Egyptian Presidency has yet to issue a statement. The Kremlin has already issued a statement.
Egypt is currently hosting indirect talks between Palestinian factions and Israel aimed at striking a long-term ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, which reeled under a month of Israeli attacks, which left 1886 people dead and more than 9800 others injured. Thousands of homes and facilities were also destroyed by the Israeli attacks.
