CAIRO (AA) – Egypt's main satellite transmission station, located in southern Cairo, was attacked on Monday by unknown assailants who fired rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) at the facility, a security source said.
The source did not specify the number of RPGs fired at the facility, which is located in Cairo's upmarket Maadi neighborhood.
The attack did not cause any serious damage to satellite transmission equipment, the source said, although he added that an international communication dish had been slightly torn.
Monday's incident was the first time ever for the satellite communications facility to come under attack.
