CAIRO
Egypt's Prosecutor-General on Sunday ordered the release of 98 supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi, who were arrested earlier on charges of inciting violence, attacking state properties and possessing arms.
The prosecutor said in a statement that the 98 people included 45 students and 53 elderly people and others with frail health.
It added that the released people included 20 who were arrested on August 14 last year during the dispersal of a pro-Morsi sit-in in Giza's al-Nahda Square.
Nahda and Cairo's Rabaa al-Adawiya squares were the sites of two major pro-Morsi sit-ins that were violently cleared by security forces last August, leaving hundreds dead and thousands of others injured.
An Egyptian court, meanwhile, adjourned until September 9 the trial of 68 people accused of participating in riots outside a downtown Cairo police station during Egypt's celebrations of the October war victory anniversary last year.
