Fifteen people lost their lives when a ferryboat sank in the Nile River on Friday in the northern province of Kafr al-Sheikh, a senior police officer told Anadolu Agency.
General al-Sayyed Nasr also said that three people were injured.
The cause of the accident is still not known, but local media quoted a police source who said the boat could have been overloaded.
This is not the first incident of its kind. In July, 33 people died when a ferryboat sank in the Nile River.
