NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said that Syria's downing a Turkish military plane without making any warning was against all international norms, and it was unacceptable. In a press conference on Monday, Rasmussen said that NATO members, which gathered upon a call by Turkey last week, strongly condemned Syria and extended full support to Turkey. We expect Turkey to give new information to NATO about Syria issue within this week, he added. Rasmussen also said that they did not have any intention to stage a military intervention in Syria because NATO thought political solution would be enough. Recently, an unarmed Turkish plane was shot down by Syria while on a training and test mission after unintentionally strayed into Syrian airspace before it was quickly warned by Turkish authorities to leave.
