BEIJING
A former police chief in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has been detained on suspicion of murder, the country's state news agency reported Sunday.
Xinhua said that Zhao Liping is suspected of involvement in a case in Chifeng City in Inner Mongolia on Friday, according to the regional public security bureau.
The 64-year-old former police detective is a retired former deputy chairman of the Inner Mongolia Regional Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
He was regional police chief from 2005 and 2010.
Xinhua said that he had nearly 30 years of work experience in the public security system.
No further details have been disclosed.
