ANKARA 

A cultural institute in Turkey will host 25 students from Azerbaijan, starting from Thursday, for the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Gallipoli as part of a project called “History in its place.”

The Yunus Emre Institute, a Turkish NGO that aims to promote Turkish culture and language in the world, invited 25 undergraduate and graduate students to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Gallipoli under the motto, “100 years of peace.”

The students were invited to Turkey for a cultural project organized by the Yunus Emre Institute called “History in its place.” The project aims to promote Turkish culture and improve relations between Turkey and other countries.

Student, Tamraz Aliyev said, "It is my first visit to Turkey and I am very happy. I want to thank the Yunus Emre Institute for organizing it. The victory of Gallipoli is not a victory for the state of Turkey but a victory for all Turks. In fact, Azeri Turks and other Turks fought in the Battle of Gallipoli. The Turkish nation showed its determination and strength.”

Professor Hayati Develi, chairman of the Yunus Emre Institute, addressed the students saying, “We fought together with Azeris and we have Azeri martyrs. When you are there you will be able to see where the Battle of Gallipoli took place. The aim of showing a battle zone is to understand the value of peace.”

The event will take place between 12-22 March.

The Yunus Emre Institute, named after Turkish poet and Sufi mystic Yunus Emre, aims to contribute to the training of competent academics and researchers in the fields of Turkish language, history, culture, art and music through certification programs in several cities across the world.
