Azerbaijan said on Thursday that two of its citizens were killed in a drone strike on a foreign cargo ship in the Black Sea.
A statement by the Foreign Ministry said two more of its citizens were injured as the foreign cargo ship TEDY came under attack on Wednesday.
The citizens injured were hospitalized in the southwestern Ukrainian city of Chornomorsk, the statement said, adding that it is coordinating with diplomatic missions and with the competent institutions of respective countries.
“After the medical examination and treatment of our wounded citizens, measures are being taken to return them to the country and to provide the necessary consular support, as well as to carry out funeral procedures,” the statement added.
The ministry renewed its call on Azerbaijani citizens to refrain from visiting or engaging in labor activities in regions “where military operations are ongoing or the security situation is unstable.”
None have yet taken responsibility for the incident.
