WASHINGTON D.C.
Anadolu Agency (AA) inaugurated its Washington D.C. office Thursday as part of the agency's "Centennial Vision" to become one of the top five news agencies in the world by its 100th anniversary in 2020.
AA's new office in the heart of Washington D.C. was inaugurated by Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan, the agency's Europe & Americas Regional Director Ural Yesil, and the Americas Editor Hasan Huseyin Kosger.
“It is a real pleasure and honor for me to be here during this opening ceremony of Washington office of Anadolu Agency,” said Babacan during the opening. “My best wishes of success for our colleagues who are going to be working in this office in this capital which is actually a very, very important capital for us."
Prominent members of think tanks, foreign officials, and Turkish American society also attended the opening ceremony including the Turkish Charge d’affaires Tugay Tuncer, Northern Cyprus U.S. representative Ahmet Erdengiz, and the head of the Turkish Coalition of America Lincoln McCurdy.
The Washington bureau will cover news from across the U.S. and is set to become one of the most important news hubs in the country in the field of diplomacy, politics and finance.
Located one block away from the White House and within walking distance of the U.S. Capitol, the bureau will largely contribute to Anadolu Agency's Turkish, English and Arabic broadcasting services.
As part of its Centennial Vision, AA has decided to divide its global network into five main regions, including the Americas, Europe, Middle East-Africa, Asia-Caucasus and Asia-Pacific.
