MAZAR-I SHARIF (AA) - Twenty-seven militants were killed and 15 others wounded in an operation against Taliban in Herat province in western Afghanistan last week on Monday.
Corps Commander General Akhtar Mohamed stated that 27 miltants were killed and 15 wounded during operations against Taliban by Afghan and foreign security forces in Shindand district of Herat within the last week.
He said some weapons were seized during the operations, emphasizing that the Shindand district was cleared off from Taliban threat.
Herat Police Chief General Abdul Hameed Hameedi noted that 10 village residents were arrested for helping Taliban militants and they opened new police stations in the villages.
Shindand Police Cheif Qayyum Nourzay said that Molla Emruddin, one of the leading operational commanders of Taliban, was among the dead.
Nourzay added that there were no casualties from Afghan security forces.
Taliban has not yet made any statement about the operations.
