Forty militants die and twenty are wounded during operations against the Taliban in the eastern province of Nangarhar in Afghanistan on Wednesday, said Nangarhar governor's spokesman Ahmad Ziya Abdulzai.
No civilians were harmed during the operation. However, three factories that produced drugs were burned down by the Afghan forces.
Taliban spokesperson Zebiullah Mucahed refuted the number of casualties announced by Afghan officers, saying that seven militants were killed and nine others were wounded during the operation.
Mucahed said 11 Afghan soldiers and one foreign soldier were killed during the operation.
