Seven Algerians were killed and 240 injured on Tuesday during celebrations that followed the national team's qualification for the 2014 World Cup championship.
According to the Algerian Civil Defense Agency, victims were killed in stampedes that came in the wake of Algeria's 1-0 win over Burkina Faso on Tuesday, which will send the country to next year's world tournament in Brazil.
Another 75 fans were reportedly injured in the celebrations.
It is the second time in a row for Algeria's national football squad to qualify for the prestigious tournament.
Algeria has been the only Arab country to qualify for the 2014 World Cup finals, in which it will join Ghana, the Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Cameroon.
