SRINAGAR, Indian-held Kashmir
At least 24 people died and 59 were injured after a passenger bus veered into a gorge in Indian-held Kashmir on Monday morning.
Senior officials said that the passenger bus was carrying 74 people, 20 above its capacity.
“The bus skidded off the road and rolled down into a gorge in Maroti belt of Udhampur district. We do not know yet the cause of the accident. While some are saying the brakes failed on the bus, some are saying other things. But right now we must try to save people and then look at the reasons,” a senior official said
