MADRID
At least 11 people drowned while attempting to swim to the nearby Spanish enclave of Ceuta, Moroccan authorities said on Thursday.
At least 400 migrants tried to swim to Ceuta which is nearby from the Moroccan shore, according to Spanish news agencies. Two hundred people were stopped by the Moroccan security forces while 13 others were sent to a local hospital.
Authorities said 150 of the immigrants have been arrested so far.
Every week dozens of immigrants attempt to make their way into Ceuta seeking jobs and to build a new life in Europe.
