At least 10 people were killed and 14 others injured late Friday in a bomb blast at a brothel in Nigeria's northeastern Bauchi State.
"An explosion targeting a brothel in Bayangari Bauchi metropolis claimed 10 lives while 14 others sustained injuries," police spokesman Haruna Mohammed said in a statement.
"The entire surrounding has been cordoned off and scene secured," the statement said.
No arrest has been made in connection with the attack.
The spokesman said that the fatalities were evacuated to the mortuary of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital.
There was no claim of responsibility for the attack.
Suspicion, however, was directed to the Boko Haram group, which is most active in the northeastern region.
The group has been blamed for numerous deadly attacks on military and civilian targets across northern Nigeria, including the capital Abuja.
On Wednesday, 24 people were killed in a blast at a shopping mall in Abuja, less than a week after a bomb attack killed eight people at a nursing school in northwest Kano state.
Another attack was averted Friday when police detonated 13 high-caliber explosives near a big mosque in Kano.
