MOGADISHU

At least four people were injured Wednesday in a twin bombing that targeted a prominent hotel in Somali capital Mogadishu.

"At least four people were injured in the bombing," an eyewitness told The Anadolu Agency.

The targeted hotel, which is frequented by Somali government officials, is located on a road linking the presidential palace with Mogadishu International Airport.

According to witnesses, a booby-trapped car exploded outside the hotel's rear entrance, an eyewitness said.

Almost immediately afterward, a suicide bomber blew himself up only meters away, the witnesses said.

There has been no official statement about the attack, which has not been claimed by any group.

Mogadishu has been targeted by repeated bomb attacks in recent months.

Most attacks have been claimed by the Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab movement, which has been fighting government troops in different parts of Somalia.
