ANBAR
One person was killed and nine others injured on Thursday when the Iraqi army shelled targets in the western city of Fallujah, a local tribal source told Anadolu Agency.
According to the source, the army fired mortar shells and artillery rounds into the majority-Sunni city.
The artillery barrage came shortly after armed tribesmen in the city torched an army tank, the source said.
As of midday Thursday, billows of smoke could be seen rising from the city.
The Iraqi army has yet to comment on the incident.
