Switzerland is among the experienced World Cup teams, which has qualified for the tournament 10 times in the past.

Russia 2018 will be Switzerland's 11th World Cup.

The Swiss team gave its best performance in 1954 when it played in the last eight.

In 2006 and 2014, they were eliminated in the last 16.

Switzerland will be in the same group with Brazil, Costa Rica and Serbia.

The Swiss team had finished the European qualifiers in the second spot behind Portugal. Switzerland completed the Group B in the second place by goal average.

In the playoffs, Switzerland had eliminated Northern Ireland on 1-0 aggregate.

In the World Cup, Switzerland will have confidence in Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri, Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka, Benfica forward Haris Seferovic and Schalke 04 forward Breel Embolo.
