Türkiye’s communications director condemns mosque attack in Syria
'Such acts targeting region’s peace and shared future will never achieve their aims but will instead strengthen regional solidarity and the pursuit of justice' says Burhanettin Duran
ISTANBUL
Türkiye’s Communications Director Burhanettin Duran on Friday strongly condemned a terrorist attack targeting a mosque in the central Syrian city of Homs, describing it as a blatant provocation aimed at undermining regional stability and peace in the war-torn country.
In a statement shared on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal, Duran said he is deeply saddened to learn of the “treacherous terrorist attack” carried out against a place of worship in Homs province.
“We strongly condemn this inhumane act in the strongest possible terms,” he said.
Duran stressed that attacks targeting places of worship and innocent civilians are deliberate attempts to disrupt stability in the region and damage the fragile peace environment in Syria.
“Türkiye continues its determined fight against this mindset that targets human life, regardless of who commits such acts or for what reason,” he said, underlining Ankara’s firm stance against terrorism in all its forms.
He added that such acts, which aim to threaten the region’s peace and shared future, would never achieve their objectives but would instead strengthen solidarity and the pursuit of justice across the region.
Duran also expressed condolences to the victims of the attack.
The attack on the Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib Mosque in Homs killed at least eight people and injured another 18.
