Turkish foreign minister discusses regional developments with Armenian counterpart
Fidan holds phone call with Mirzoyan, according to diplomatic sources
ANKARA
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Friday held a phone call with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan, Turkish diplomatic sources said.
The foreign ministers discussed the developments in the region, the sources added, without disclosing further details.
Regional tensions have escalated after the US and Israel launched a large-scale attack on Iran last week, killing Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and senior military officials. The air strikes have continued unabated.
In response, Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel as well as other countries in the region including those which host US bases.
Azerbaijan sought Iran’s apology after a drone attack targeted its Nakhchivan exclave on Thursday.
