ISTANBUL
More than 80 international art galleries and specialists will meet in Istanbul for the third edition of ArtInternational in September.
The contemporary and modern art fair, which will feature 83 galleries from 24 countries, will take place at Halic Congress Center on the banks of Istanbul’s Golden Horn between Sep. 4 and 6, the organizer announced Thursday.
This year’s participants come from Europe, North and South America, the Middle East, Central Asia, India and China, according to the statement.
Galleries such as London-based Victoria Miro, Mumbai-based Sakshi, Hong Kong-based Galerie Du Monde and New York-London based Aicon Gallery will be taking part in the fair for the first time this year.
Fair director Dyala Nusseibeh said in the statement that the second edition of the fair had attracted more than 22,000 people.
"Istanbul continues to be a dynamic global hub for art and this is reflected in the diverse, exciting quality of works being presented at the fair," Nusseibeh said. "This year’s edition coincides with the official opening of the 14th Istanbul Biennial and we look forward to welcoming an audience of collectors, curators, arts professionals and art lovers for what promises to be an enormously vibrant week for art in Istanbul."
The 14th Istanbul Biennial will take place between Sep. 5 and Nov. 1.
