SKOPJE (AA) - September 6, 2012 - A deputy of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party from Istanbul and Chairman of the Turkish Group at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC), Dr. Ismail Safi on Thursday said that they wanted to see Macedonia in the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) organization as a member.
"As Turkey, we will send an official invitation to Macedonia soon," Dr. Safi noted.
A PABSEC delegation, consisting of members of parliament, mayors and businesspeople, visited the Macedonian Chamber of Trade on Thursday.
The delegation led by Ismail Safi met with Macedonian businesspeople and discussed opportunities for possible investments.
Speaking to reporters after their meeting at the Macedonian Chamber of Trade, Dr. Safi stated that Turkey attached high importance to economic, cultural and historic friendships.
"As an indication of the importance we attach to Macedonia, we have come here with five members of parliament, the General Manager of Turkey's tea giant Caykur, chairman of the Chamber of Trade of Rize province, and many businesspeople," Dr. Safi noted.
"Our goal is to strengthen historic ties with Macedonia by economic relations," Dr. Safi indicated.
A high level executive of the Macedonian Chamber of Trade, Anton Pesev said that they had a chance to learn more about the Turkish economy by holding talks with the Turkish delegation on Thursday.
"We also had a chance to discuss opportunities for investment in Macedonia," Pesev added.
