ANKARA
Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu needs to apologize to Anadolu Agency's employees for derogatory remarks on the agency, according to Gursel Eser, chairman of the Turkish Media Laborers Union on Tuesday.
Eser said in a written statement that the agency, whose employees are members of the Union, was highly successful in its March 30 local elections coverage, and he congratulated the agency's 1,500 reporters and 95 thousand poll watchers for publishing election results quickly and correctly.
He said that the Anadolu Agency is a success story and the union cannot accept sustained attacks and criticism on the agency taking into account all the efforts of its staff.
"Kılıcdaroglu's remarks that 'we do not trust Anadolu Agency' has deeply saddened the union and the AA staff," he said.
Eser also condemned a cyber attack on the Cihan News Agency on election day. Cihan is known to be close to the ‘Hizmet’ movement led by U.S.-based Turkish preacher Fethullah Gulen.
