Milosevic prosecutor Sir Geoffrey Nice has confirmed he is to represent the Mavi Marmara victims.
The Mavi Marmara was part of flotilla bound for Gaza bringing aid and construction materials in May 2010 when Israeli soldiers attempted to board the ship which resulted in a violent clash leaving nine Turks dead.
As well as Sir Geoffrey Nice, Rodney Dixon and barrister Paul Mylvaganam will be part of the legal team. At a press conference it was said that a referral to the International Criminal Court had been made a year ago, but as yet no decision had been made as to whether the court’s prosecutor would open an investigation into the incident
Sir Geoffrey Nice, the lead prosecutor in the case against the former president of Yugoslavia, Slobodan Milosevic, is also one of the co-authors of the "2014 Syrian detainee report", which documented crimes against humanity committed by the Syrian regime using a collection of 55,000 photographs.
