Turkish writer wins 2012 Gourmand Cookbook award

Turkish Muhammed Omur Akkor's book "Seljukian Cuisine" was awarded Gourmand Cookbook Awards 2012 Best Culinary History Book.
Akkor got his award at the Gourmand World Gourmand World Cookbook Awards Gala event on February 22 at the Louvre Museum in France.
He told AA correspondent that the competition was considered the Nobel Prizes of cookbooks, adding that he entered it with his books "Seljukian Cuisine" and "Egg Recipes from the Ottomans to the Present". Winning the best culinary history book of the year award, Akkor said he competed with 12,000 cookbooks from 178 countries.   
Akkor said his book was not only a cookbook but also a history book with the pictures of Seljukian tiles and miniatures. He also narrated the stories of two cooks one lived in 1236 and the other in 2010.
