BEIRUT
Turkish whirling dervishes impressed Lebanese viewers.
Performing in the country's northern city of Tripoli, Turkish whirling dervishes fascinated the audience.
Started with chanting of Holy Qur'an, dervishes continued their performance with pray and orisons.
Jalal al-Din Muhammad Rumi devoted himself to the pursuit of Sufi mysticism, was the spiritual leader of the Mevlevi order of whirling dervishes and he was justly regarded as the supreme master.
Each year, on the 17th of December, the Mevlevi Order offers a special Sema (dance of the whirling dervishes) to celebrate Mevlana Jalal al-Din Rumi's "Sheb-i Arus" or "Wedding Night (Vuslat)".
