Turkish warplanes destroyed PKK terror group’s gun emplacements and hideouts in northern Iraq Monday, according to the Turkish military Tuesday.

In a statement issued on its official website, Turkish General Staff said the airstrikes targeted a number of PKK positions in the northern Iraqi regions of Metina, Haftanin and Zap.

PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization also by the U.S., and EU -- resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, more than 450 security personnel, including troops, police officers, and village guards, have been martyred, and more than 4,500 PKK terrorists killed in counter-terrorism operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
