Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek, Religious Affairs head Mehmet Gormez and the president of the Alewite foundation, Fermani Altun will sit down Tuesday evening at Rixos Hotel in Ankara to share the iftar - traditional breaking of the fasting meal.
Month of Muharram is the beginning of the Islamic (Hijri) calendar. Even though it is celebrated by both Sunni and Alewites, the month is mostly related to Alewite citizens in Turkey as fasting during this month is essential for Alewites, which is seem as equal to month of Ramadan for Sunnis.
"We are here for the brotherhood for the entire humanity," says Fermani Altun, the president of the foundation.
