A Turkish soldier was martyred and two others injured in a PKK terrorist attack in southeastern Hakkari province on Monday, the local governor’s office said.
PKK terrorists used a mortar shell in the attack on a border command post in Cukurca district, said a statement released by the Hakkari Governor's office.
The injured soldiers were rushed to the Hakkari State Hospital.
Security forces later launched an operation in the area to nab the terrorists.
More than 1,200 people, including security personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-long armed campaign in July 2015.
