Turkish dailies covered on Tuesday the international responses against the reports of the use of chemical weapons in Syria.
MİLLİYET headlined "Intervention Signal" by stating that US Secretary Kerry charged the Assad regime of using deadly poison gas and said "All nations must stand up for the responsibility of using chemical weapons."
^The strongest statement which has been released by the US Secretary for Syria thus far was" says daily. It was also mentinoned that Kerry had made serial phone calls with his counterparts.
ZAMAN headlined "Kosovan Type Intervention is At the Door" and gave place to the claims that Western countries are discussing the military intervention in Syria. Since no decision from the UN has been set forth for intervention, different alternatives such as the US-NATO bombing which ended the Serbian cruelty in Kosovo were stressed. The UN commitee's arrival in suburban areas of Damascus and contact with witnesses was also addressed.
STAR headlined that "Chemical is Sure, Intervention is at the door" while recording Kerry's words that "A wide range of chemical weapons were used in Syria. It is too late to trust Assad who is systematically destroying the evidences."
VATAN headlined that "The Guard is Off," implying Russia's green light to intervention in Syria. It was stated that Assad is stalemated and the international coalition's operation would be performed between two or ten days.
PM Erdogan's latest remarks on Turkey and Egypt
HÜRRİYET says Turkish PM Erdogan had remarked that Western powers do not want a strong Turkey by stating that the West failed the test on Egypt and Syria by keeping silent; YENİ ŞAFAK gave the same news by adding Erdogan's statement as "they do not want a strong Turkey in the region. If a strong Turkey happens, history would rise again, they see it. So we will take matters into our own hands."
TÜRKİYE also placed Erdogan's statements as the oppressed people will eventually win and said "There is a Moses in every society who puts the Pharaohs away. I believe that their Moses will come soon."
MILLYET, SABAH, mention on their first pages that sniper fire on UN inspectors which caused no deaths, while the UN vehicle was left in unusable condition after the attacks.
