ANKARA
Turkish President Abdullah Gul on Thursday received President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy at the presidential palace in Ankara.
Turkey's EU accession process and Syria issue were discussed thoroughly during the meeting, according to the information provided by the Turkish Presidency.
Rompuy stated that he brought a political message to revive the negotiations between Turkey and the EU.
Gul touched on the need of EU to think strategically in regards to Turkey and added that some EU member states had to give up their doomy attitude to revive negotiations.
