ANKARA
Turkish police detained 10 members of Patriotic Revolutionist Youth Movement (YDG-H) linked to outlawed Kurdistan Worker's Party, or PKK, in a joint operation carried out in five provinces on Wednesday.
The operation was held in the capital Ankara, southern province of Hatay, southeastern province of Diyarbakir and eastern provinces of Bitlis and Hakkari, police said.
Nine people were held in Ankara, and another in Hatay. Officers also seized many organizational documents during the search.
Police heard earlier that a group disrupted teaching and barred students from taking exams at Ankara University's Department of Educational Sciences.
A total of 16 individuals had been identified through testimonies from students, some of them blocked from having exams and some beaten by the group’s members.
Police found that some of those detained had also engaged in PKK propaganda at the university, and taken part in street protests at various times and obstructed police officers.
The suspects were brought to Ankara police department, while search continues for six more who remain at large.
