TIRANA (AA) - May 16, 2012 - Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek on Tuesday separately met with Albanian President Bamir Topi and Prime Minister Sali Berisha in capital Tirana.
As a strategic partner Turkey extends support to Albania's progress in every field, Topi said in a written press statement after the meeting, adding that the two countries also cooperated within the framework of NATO missions.
The statement said Topi and Cicek underlined the importance of strengthening peace and stability in the Balkans and in the wider region and they agreed that the countries of the region should intensify efforts to integrate with Euro-Atlantic structures.
Albanian prime minister also issued a statement over his meeting with Cicek, saying that the Turkish parliament chief's visit would contribute to "the perfect relations between the two nations."
Berisha said his government had a solid resolve to boost bilateral relations with Turkey, adding that Turkey played an important role in its region.
Berisha also thanked Turkey for the support it extends to Albania.
